FIM announce Qatar Baja posponed and new Baja in Portugal in October

Due to the impact of the ongoing Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, the FIM, the Qatar Motor and Motorcycling Federation, the Federaçao de Motociclismo de Portugal (FMP) and local organisers announce the following changes to the 2021 provisional calendar.

Due to the increased restrictions imposed in Qatar, the Qatar International Baja originally scheduled for 08 to 10 April is now postponed to a later date in 2021. Information regarding the new date will be communicated in due course.

The Baja do Oeste, in Torres Vedras, Portugal has been added to the 2021 schedule and will take place from 15 to 17 October.

The Qatar International Baja would have counted 504.24 competitive kilometres through the Qatar deserts in a compact route of 872.44km just after a 6.7km super special stage at Simasmina – 16km from rally headquarters at the Losail Sports Arena - on Thursday, April 8th.

The program of the competition spoke about a liaison section of 74.47km from Losail, the first of the desert selective sections on Friday, April 9th, starts at Al-Jumaliya and incorporates four passage controls in a competitive distance of 248.80km through the central and northern regions of Qatar with a second liaison of 87.71km returns riders and drivers to the Losail Sports Arena. For Saturday riders and drives would have found a final stage of 248.74km on Saturday, April 10th starts at Al-Kharsaah, 80.53km from rally headquarters, and also utilises four passage controls.
